3AM - the rockingest blues band in the UK!3AM

Personnel: Laura Long on vocals, Tim Renton guitars and mandolin, Andy Renton percussion, Chris Parren keyboards, Fussi Andersen bass. Oli Arlotto playing sax on "Early Monday Morning".

Soulful, passionate vocals fronting blues-guitar-based rock songs written by the band or inspired by the likes of Elkie Brooks, Janis Joplin and Etta James. Blues you can get your teeth into!

A superbly tight band fronted by powerful and emotive female vocals, this band loves to entertain. No introspective navel-gazing, just good sounds that get your feet tapping to the beat. Subtle re-arrangements of classic songs from the likes of Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac, Primal Scream, Etta James, Vinegar Joe and others, mixed in with a growing catalogue of their own material.

The band has its roots in the rock scene of the 1970's, which is when brothers Tim and Andy Renton played their first professional gigs. They went on to join Mike Batt and performed as the Wombles on Top of the Pops nine times, touring Europe for radio and TV, including 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. In 2004 they joined up again to start 3am which became a six-piece, with buddy Chris Parren on keys.

Over the next few years they toured South East England, playing hundreds of pubs and clubs - from The New Crawdaddy in northern Essex to Chichester Blues Fest and Guilfest in the south, and Charlotte Street Blues (RIP!!) and the 100 Club in Central London.

Since then, the band has gone from strength to strength - occasional changes to the line-up adding depth and diversity to the sound. The latest incarnation, from May 2011, sees the arrival of well-known London jazz singer Laura Long, fronting the band and adding a new frisson to the mix!
