Alexander Bloom (* July 19 1961 in Eisenach ) is a German boogie -woogie, blues - and jazz pianist. In the GDR  Bloom belonged alongside Jürgen Kerth , Lutz Kowalewski and Waldemar Weiz ( ergo , white grub ) of the best known representatives of the Thuringian blues scene .

Bloom was already eight years old piano lessons . In 1971, he joined with his brother Stanley  Bloom in Eisenach Jazz Club , the oldest jazz club in East Germany, first public and with 16 years he was a member of the Travelling Blues Band . In 1978 it overtook Stefan Diestelmann by East Berlin . Up to the " flight from the republic "in 1983 was one of the  Bloom Stefan Diestelmann Folk Blues Band and can be heard on the LP "court music" and "Folk, Blues & Boogie" on the piano.

In 1985 he began studying at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin, which he broke in 1986 for political reasons. After the band had dissolved by Stefan Diestelmann,  Bloom moved to Zenit . In 1987 the GDR label Amiga on the first solo album with  Bloom.

In 1988 he founded his first band, the Inter City Blues Band and worked with Big Joe Stolle , with whom he already at the zenith had music together, together. Evidence of this cooperation is the 1990 published CD "Reflection In Blues".
In 1992,  Bloom opened a private music school in Eisenach. Since the mid-1990s, he is primarily a solo act. The solo show is a tribute to the traditions of famous boogie and swing pianist. From 1995 concert tours have taken him regularly to foreign countries. He has appeared already in Sweden, the Czech Republic, the USA, Lithuania and Turkey.

Since 1998, there Alexander  Bloom Jazz Family . To this formation include his sons Maximilian ( drums ), Daniel ( clarinet , saxophone ), Cornelius ( trumpet ), Michael ( bass ) and Gunter Mlynski ( trombone ).

The Alexander  Bloom trio he founded in 2003. The trio, consisting of his son Maximilian on drums and bassist Andreas Buchmann, sees himself in the tradition of blue-based hard bop - and soul -pianists such as Ray Bryant , Bobby Timmons , Ramsey Lewis and Les McCann and is occasionally supplemented by the trumpeter Daniel Hofmann with which he 2003, the CD "I believe in music" recorded.

Temporary  Bloom collaborates with other musicians and bands and was involved in the production of common Albums (Christoph Gottwald, Jana Wiesenthal, Undertaker Blues Band, Mama Blues Project, Kasseturm Jazz Band Weimar). The latest project is the Iceland Blues Band , with whom he recorded the CD "Island Blues" recorded in 2007. For the band include: Alexander  Bloom (piano), Daniel Hofmann (trumpet, flugelhorn ), Wieland Götze (drums), Christian Patzer (saxophone) and Ole Rausch (guitar).
