Like "Carole King, with some extra swing!" Anne Mironchik's tasty new album, Cookin' in the Kitchen is a well-seasoned collection of her original material, including the sizzling title track plus the jazz standard “Laura” by Johnny Mercer. Anne is a gifted vocalist, pianist, composer and lyricist with a conservatory degree in jazz and roots in rock, blues, R&B and country. Her repertoire includes a mix of jazz standards, jazzy adult-contemporary favorites and her original, crowd-pleasing and critically acclaimed songs, reminiscent of adult contemporary hits of the 70s & 80s. Her toe-tappin’ and touching songs reach back and forge ahead. She will melt your heart and satisfy your appetite for great new music.
Anne's first recording, the EP "Find Me", sold over 1500 in hard copies and downloads. Anne received grants from the Musician's Foundation and annual ASCAPlus awards. She was selected as a finalist with the UniSong International, which dubbed the demo version of Cookin’ in the Kitchen “…a juggernaut of a song!”. She was also a finalist at the Avalon songwriting competition and chosen to be part of the Females on Fire III compilation, produced by Warrior Girl Music. 2010 marked her first appearances at music festivals – Centenary Mini- Blues Fest, opening for Peter Tork (of the Monkees), and Skylands Festival in NJ. She has been interviewed on WNTI 91.9 (Hackettstown, NJ) and WHPC 90.3 (Nassau County, NY) and her music has been played on several internet and regional stations. Along with King, her major influences include Laura Nyro, Nina Simone, Marcia Ball, Anita Baker, Nat "King" Cole and Diana Krall.
Anne’s musical training began where she grew up in Hunterdon County NJ, and was cultivated at Manhattan School of Music’s Jazz Department. The most recent and significant changes to Anne’s playing and artistry have come as a result of participating in workshops lead by Ann Ruckert and studying with jazz piano great, Mike Longo, the long-time pianist and arranger for Dizzy Gillespie. Under his renowned tutelage, Anne is becoming the kind of mature, accomplished jazz performer who is sure to please jazz listeners all over the world.
