Paardekooper and the Blew Crue were formed in 2007 around guitarist
Bas Paardekooper and have since then defined themselves as a blues-rock
oriented band with progressive and symphonic rock influences. The band
started out playing blues covers by Jimi
Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn,
Walter Trout and
Joe Bonamassa but were soon writing their
own material. With the release of their 2009 debut album "The Blues On My
Side" (still available through their website) their original songs, while
still remaining true to the blues and blues-rock styles of their heroes,
also showed a slight departure towards pop and symphonic influences. The
songs written by Paardekooper also seemed to lend themselves very well to,
came recording and production time, adding some extra spice by adding vocal
harmonies and experiment with different arrangement, instruments and sounds.
Early 2011 the band started working on their follow up album that should
definitely raise the bar musically and technically. The band however was
still touring and being a semi professional group most of it's members still
had their day-jobs to attend to and give up their vacations just to be able
to play, making time to write and record scarce. By the end of 2011 most
songs were written and some demos were cut but still no finished record.
While still performing the fan's demand for a new release kept growing,
especially because the band were already playing a large share of their new
material live and all of it went over really well.
In April 2012 Bas and the Blew Crue released the title track for their
second album as a single called 'Broken Heart For Sale'. With the album
still in production they decided to give their fans a 9 minute 30 second
"taste" of things to come. The Album is currently being mixed and set for
release in June 2012.
