Big Apple Blues Band
Barry Harrison - drums
Barry spent six years with Shemekia Copeland touring at myriad domestic and international tours. Before that he had a several years long tenure with her father, the legendary Johnny Copeland, until his death. Barry's playing personifies the quintessential blues-based drummer: a deep pocket, tight groove and supportive agility. It is no secret that Barry is the undisputed king of blues drummers in NYC. Thus, his name "The Baron of the Blues" as musicians often introduce him at a stage is a perfect coincidence with his true name - Baron. Currently Barry is the house drummer at the famed Manhattan blues venue, Terra Blues, working with the five times WC Handy Award and Grammy Award nominee Michael Powers, as well as with the blues staple musicians on the NYC blues scene, Jerry Dugger, Saron Cranshaw, Clarence Spady, and Bobby Radcliff, Steve Guyger, among many others.
Admir "Dr Blues" Hadzic - bass / harmonica
Dr Blues' biography is so diverse that it's almost impossible to write. He spent much of his life wraped around music from all of its aspects, from DJ-ing and fronting his own bands as a teenager in Europe, to studio engineering (Stone Tone Studios), vintage vacuume-tube instrument amplifier engineering and collecting. For the last decade or so, Dr Blues has shared the stage with some of the top NYC and national acts ranging from Hugh Pool, Barry Harrison, Zach Zunis, Mason Casey, James Wormorth, Sim Cain, Rich Cohen, Jason Ricci, to name a few. His current endeavor is bass chair at the Big Apple Blues (formerly Stone Tone Blues Band) that is poised to blaze its own paths throughout the world.
Anthony Kane - harmonica / vocals
Anthony Kane has been singing and playing blues in the greater NYC metropolitan area since age 15. As a teenager he fronted Kane Brother Blues band in the Woodstock, NY. He spent several years in Chicago continuing to hone his skills playing with some of the Chicago's finest blues musicians including Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, among others. After leaving Chicago, Anthony fronted his own bands at the top clubs all over the North East as a vocalist, harmonica and slide player extraordinaire. The legendary harmonica man, James Cotton himself called Anthony as "One of the Best"! Nuff said!
Hugh Pool - guitar / harmonica / slide guitar / vocals
Hugh Pool is one and only. Here's what the critics had to say…."Before there was grunge, there was Howlin' Wolf. Now there's the HUGH POOL BAND... Pool is a tremendous slide and fingerstyle guitarist with a propensity for adventure. He's also got a great voice...intense, deep and real."
Jeff Calvin (Blues Review Magazine)
I caught this hard working New York country-delta-blues guitarist at the Bottom Line opening for Dave Edmunds, some time ago. Playing flavorsome guitar with a mouthful of whiskey and a salty voice, he seems to be a member of 100 bands supplying his Winter and Allman Brothers sound. When he's not playing, you can see him with engineering credits on CDs from bands like The Bootleg Remedy. Whew!"
Zach Zunis - guitar
A true ambasador of the blues. Zach has spent a lifetime playing blues all accross United States of America and the World at large. Bands that he fronted and played with are countless and way beyond the allowable space...A few blues legends that Zach Zunis spent years on the road with are: Great William Clark, Rick Holmstrom, Lester Butler, Mason Casey and countless others. Zach's signature blazing West Coast-on-steroids sound can be heard on countless blues albums. Zach is currently backing up the Aligator Records' star Janiva Magness.
