Throughout 2011, the rockin' 25th anniversary edition of Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers will celebrate its longevity with appearances at concerts, fair, festivals, casinos and night clubs. Martin is featured on special occasions as the lead singer and harmonica player with Harvey Mandel's SnakeCrew and hosts "Mick Martin's Blues Party" every Saturday 1-5 pm on Capital Public Radio (90.9 FM KXJZ Sacramento, 90.5 Tahoe City/Reno, 91.3 FM KUOP Stockton/Modestion and streamed worldwide on www. capradio.org. He has been a sideman to Freddie King, Bo Diddley, the Yardbirds, Elvin Bishop, Savoy Brown, Nick Gravenites and , among many others. Founding members singer-guitarist Tim Barnes (of Stoneground fame), bassist Steve Schofer (The Blue Flames), organist Russ Skarsten (Jeff Watson Band) and drummer Bruce Pressley (the Beer Dawgs) complete this powerhouse band, which has toured Europe and won Best Blues Rock Band for six years running from Canada's Real Blues magazine and Hall of Fame status in the SAMMIES Awards. Singer-harmonica player Martin was honored on September 26, 2010, by the California State Assembly and the City of Sacramento for his work on stage, radio and as lecturer/historian in the Sacramento Blues Society's "Blues in the Schools" program. He was also inducted into Sacramento's Blues Hall of Fame on December 5 of this year and played with Mandel at the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, "West Fest," at Golden Gate Park. Often cited as the "best unsigned band in the blues," this is a band that loves and respects its audience while playing its original and classic blues numbers with passion and excitement.
