MORE ABOUT NASTY NED

A soulful, energetic blues barker and harmonica performer, Nasty Ned has burned the hottest stages in America with the coolest cats and kittens in the world. His performing career began in 1966 on television with Zacherley, in Newark, NJ when his teenage R&B band shared the bill with The Chiffons.

Since making his first commercial recordings in 1981 for Interstate Records, Ned has enjoyed playing with brand names including legends; Albert King, James Cotton, and Bobby Blue Bland. Ned lead Nasty Ned & the Famous Chili Dogs to national acclaim in the 90’s with two original blues albums for Interstate Records, A STORM IS COMIN' '91 and JUST LIKE LIFE '93.

In 1994, Bob Makin [Gannett] wrote, “Nasty Ned is on par with the best modern blues has to offer”, his songs, “are as sexy as music gets”, “if recorded 40 years ago, would be classics now”.

Today, Nasty Ned is in the studio recording his next album, RIGHT NOW, AGAIN! , ready to drop early 2011.

His 2010 American Showplace Music release ROOTS 52, has been heralded a "powerful recording"... and a "best of Blues" 2010 for many in radio.

Exploding with a post-war, Muddy and Wolf vibe, ROOTS 52 is armed with reverence, expansion, originality and abandon. It's blues.

And it's as close to a recording from 1952 as you’ll hear made today. Old school on purpose - Nasty Ned blows and sings from his soul, all in one motion, all on the same take, all as he does live, on stage.

ROOTS 52 contains no track-stacking, no over-dubbing, no punching and no fixing of any kind… it’s simply honest, sweat drenched blues, performed live in the studio.

ROOTS 52 is produced by Grammy Award winner Ben Elliott, and Nasty Ned, at legendary Showplace Studios in Dover, NJ. Executive producer Stephen A. Schiff.
