Singer, harmonica player and songwriter San Pedro Slim a.k.a David Kiefer, hails from the Los Angeles port town of San Pedro, California. His first professional gig took place at the seedy San Pedro tavern ‘Between Rounds’ on Pacific Avenue in early 1991. It was from that moment on that playing blues became the most important thing in his life. “It was electric, there was a lot of blues happening. There were so many great musicians playing out at that time, you’d be out every night”, David recalls. It was a chance sit in with Rick Holmstrom’s Band in 1992 that would have a big impact on Slim’s career. After a few gigs, Holmstrom suggested that they take Slim’s original material and go into the studio to cut a demo. The results turned out later to be part of Slim’s debut cd ‘Another Night On The Town’ who will see the light in 1997. Despite the good reviews, short after the release of the record David quit music concentrating on day job until 2003 when he resurrected San Pedro Slim once again. ‘Barhoppin’, was released in 2008 and features once again Rick Holmstrom and his touring band in all tracks.
