Tonky de la Peña founded his group “The Tonky Blues Band” in Madrid at the beginning of the 1980..s forging a strong reputation within the club circuit as he dominated the nightly blues sessions. Tonky went to accompany bluesmen of international stature such as Carey Bell, Louisiana Red and Charlie Musselwhite with whom he played in concerts and festivals throughout Europe, also being invited to appear on several occasions with Albert Collins and the Ice Breakers. In 1990, Tonky joined with Jerry Lee Lewis Band for a tour in Spain, and in 1992 similarly linked up with Mick Taylor (John Mayall and the Blues Breakers.. legendary guitarist, Taylor was later to become member of the Rolling Stones). Tonky toured with Taylor extensively and recorded with him his third LP “Piedra Rodante” (Rolling Stone). The Tonky blues band is currently one of the most respected blues outfits in Europe, playing in a large festivals as well as on the club circuit. It is in intimate environment that Tonky is constantly honing his skills as an improviser displaying a natural ability for the guitar and being considered a lead exponent of the slide guitar technique. From the year 2000 to 2005 Tonky and his band played backing in extended tours to the legendary American drummer and singer Buddy Miles (member of Wilson Pickett, Michael Bloomfields's Electic Flag, Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys and Santana), recording and sharing great moments on the stage. Also The Tonky Blues band keeps touring with great European and American musicians such as Nico Wayne Toussaint, Paul Orta, Boney Fields, Charles Pasi, Sean Carney and Eric Blume and many more. Tonky is always on the road ready to play his blues. This is their second album.
